Senator Thatcher has called Oregon home most of the last 44 years. She was elected to Oregon House of Representatives from Keizer in 2004 and was re-elected four times after that. Kim ran for the Senate in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018.
Senator Thatcher is currently serving on 10 different committees. Throughout her 15 years of legislative service, Kim has been assigned to committees that focused on business, elections, audits, and government accountability.
In the private sector, Kim started a couple of road contracting businesses 28 years ago.
She jumped into the local business community with both feet joining the Salem Chambers of Commerce i Marion, Clackamas, and Yamhill Counties.
Karl and Kim have been married 36 years and have four grown children and seven grandkids. She's a certified crane operator and small aircraft pilot. Kim likes to travel, play piano, volunteer for her church and community, and spending time with her family.
